At the new church in Bern Township, 2 miles from Philip Faust, on May 26, 1776, Jacob Faust and Ludwig Faust, sons of Philip Faust, were confirmed, and took their first communion.

Last Will and Testament

Executors: my brother-in-law, Daniel Werthman, and my beloved wife, Hannah
Witnesses: Valentine Mochel and Benjamin Schneck
Provides for the widow all the necessities of life; it specifies that the plantation shall be divided into three parts; one part to go to each of his oldest sons, Johannes, Philip, and Ludwig, Jr., however, it also provides for other alternatives, if for any reason, one of these sons has no intention to receive his portion; it states that Johannes shall have the portion, on which they had begun to finish a new house, and that Johannes shall be obligated to finish the new house; it implores the guardians of the younger children to make certain that they attend school and receive the necessary learning; that they shall be instructed in religion, by the Minister of the Gospel, and confirmed; that the younger boys shall learn a trade; etc.
