She was born in Montesano, Washington on February 2, 1924 to Harry G. and Marie Cook Messenger. Narcissa attended and graduated in 1942 from Weatherwax High School. She married Robert R. Reed on December 23, 1949 in Olympia, Washington.
Mom played high school tennis and enjoyed it throughout her life; she loved working in her yard and flower gardens with dad making them always appear as a perfect postcard photo. They enjoyed their trips back home to the Pacific Northwest, walking the beach, and hearing the roar of the ocean.
During World War II, she worked for the Office of Price Administration and was very proud that she was once called upon to retrieve a wrench from inside the wing of a B-17 because of her small stature. She later spent many years in the banking industry.
She is survived by her husband: Robert, children: David (Stacey) Reed, Alyce (David) Bone, and John R. (Nancy) Reed, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister: Mabel E. Malone, and her brother: Garold E. (Darlene) Messenger. Preceded in death by her mother and father and granddaughter Connie Jo Bone.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Loisi Tonga for kind and loving care, Crossland Care Center, and special angels of Haven Hospice.
Graveside services will be held at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah, on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 12:00 p.m.
