Samuel C. Crouch was born near London, England, Feb. 18, 1824, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. P. Bennett, in this place, Dec. 18th, 1905, aged 81 years and 10 months. At the age of 5 years he came to America with his parents, and was married to Harriet Buck in 1846. To this union, nine children were born, his wife and four children having preceded him to the great beyond.
The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. Bennett, with whom he had been living for a few years past, conducted by Rev. Hicks, and the remains were laid to rest at Woodlawn cemetery.
Mr. Crouch was a nice quiet old gentleman and had made many friends during his sojourn here. His death was due to no particular illness. The machinery, which kept the spark of life ignited, had run down and his spirit took the flight to the One who gave it.
