His family moved from Clay Co, Arkansas in 1929. They were very poor and needed to move away from the swamps in Arkansas because they all had malaria. They lived in Ballard Co, Kentucky. Dad left for the Civil Conservation Corp and served one year in 1933. He met my mother (Thelma L. "Brack") in Ballard Co and they married in 1938 and moved to Peoria, IL in 1941. He worked at Caterpillar for 35 years and retired to enjoy antique hunting. He was a hobby farmer most of the time he lived in Illinois. He didn't have many years to enjoy his retirment. He died from Luekemia. He was buried on his 61th birthday.
