Eunice Edna (Hancock) Laird, 96, died at 3:10 pm Monday, October 3, 1994, at Eldercare of Alton.

The daughter of Arthur Lincoln Hancock and Mary Agnes (Walker) Hancock was born August 8, 1896 in Champaign County.

She was a member ans past Worthy Matron in 1943 of the Order of Eastern Star 847 and a past Worthy High Priestess in 1954 of the White Shrine of Alton.

She married Eddie Laird April 30, 1930 in Alton. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are a daughter Frances Eunice Eveans, of Cottage Hills; a grandson and his wife, Ron and Juliet Eveans of Trout Creek, MT; a granddaughter Merry Eveans of Cottage Hills; 5 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three nieces Billie Weigler, Betty Kotval, June Doerr Wright, a brother-in-law William and Keota Doerr of Godfrey.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Doerr and Opal Rexford; a great-grandson Randy Eveans; three great-great-grandchildren, Amy, Robert, and Ricky Eveans; and a son-in-law, Millard Eveans.

Services will be at 10 am today at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto with the Rev Millie Sloan officiating.

Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
