Katie Lee Kirk Waldrop, 69, of Spartanburg, died at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, May 23, 1973, in the Pinewood Convalescent Center after a long illness.
Native of Saluda, NC; daughter of John Henry Kirk (1877–1944) and Lula Parris Kirk; widow of John Calvin Waldrop (1896–1948).
Member of the Miracle Life Tabernacle of Whitney.
Survivors include her daughters, Lillian Waldrop Whitlock (1924–1988), Sylvia Chesney, Katie Morrow, Josephine Waldrop Fleming (1936–2018), Clara L. Waldrop Holland (1938–1998), Joyce Davis, and Betty McKelder; sons, Ernest Kirk, Floyd Waldrop, Marion Calvin Waldrop (1928–2011), and Johnny Waldrop; sisters, Jaivee Kirk Black, Myrtle Franklin; brother, Noah Robert Kirk (1909-1979); half-brothers, Samuel Reid Kirk (1936–1997) and Tommy Lee Kirk (1943–2005); 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Also predeceased by a sister, Mandie Mae Kirk Stott (1901-1918).
