Helene Pollan, 87, of Jacksonville, passed away January 8, 2010. Born in Svalula, Czechoslovakia to Adolph and Fannie Lucak, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Helene was the owner of Banner Food Stores and Dan's Cafe. She was a member of Jacksonville Jewish Center, Center Sisterhood, Hadassah and she was a Holocaust Survivor.

Preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Pollan, she is survived by her sons, Arthur Pollan (Loretta), Irving Pollan (Sandra), Stephen Pollan and Edward Pollan (Lynette); sisters, Ella Rogozinski and Olga Tyson; grandchildren, Adina, Adria, Jason, Megan, Rebekah and Jakob; nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Graveside services were held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2010 at the New Center Cemetery (located in Evergreen Cemetery at 43rd and Liberty) with Rabbi Rafi Cohen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Daniel and Helene Pollan Playground Fund, care of the Jacksonville Jewish Center. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home.
