She was born in Winslow, P.Q., Canada on June 2, 1924, daughter of the late Thomas and Angelena (Dupuis) Grenier.
Mrs. Legassey had been employed by Bates Manufacturing, Edwards Division, for 25 years. She also worked as a self-employed housekeeper for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Augusta.
Mrs. Legassey was predeceased by her husband, Philip G. Legassey; a son, Robert Legassey; a grandson, Robert Lewis; a brother, Jean Claude Grenier; and a sister, Cecile Breton.
She is survived by three sons, Gary Legassey, Reginald Legassey and Marcel Legassey, all of Augusta; a daughter, Claudette Lewis of Augusta; six grandchildren, Melissa Legassey, Israel Legassey, Angela Legassey, Jonathan Legassey, Jacob Legassey and Monica Lewis; five great-grandchildren, Trysten, Haley, Jamie, Zachary and Caleb; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial will be held in the spring in Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. (Kennebec Journal 2/13/2012)
