Tupper Lake - Napoleon J. LaBarge, 78, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1989 at his 38 LeBoeuf St. home.
He was born March 18, 1911 in Tupper Lake, the son of William and Isabelle (Amell) LaBarge.
Mr. LaBarge worked most of his life as a plumber and caretaker. He was employed by B. Seigel and Sons, a Tupper Lake plumbing firm. He then lived in Syracuse for a time where he was employed as a caretaker at Springfield Gardens, an apartment complex owned by Syracuse University. He returned to the Adirondacks as caretaker of Syracuse University's Minnowbrook Conference Center in Blue Mountain Lake where he worked until his retirement in 1976.
He was formerly active in Tupper Lake Moose Lodge 640, which he served as lodge governor in 1958.
Mr. LaBarge was married to Mary L. Ayotte on Feb. 2, 1936 in Holy Name Church, Tupper Lake.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, Frank LaBarge of Scottsville; Paul LaBarge of Bristol, NH; Roland LaBarge of Turnersville, NJ and Daniel LaBarge of Saratoga Springs; two brothers, Leon LaBarge of Conroe, Texas, and Roland LaBarge of Tupper Lake; five sisters, Mrs. Lena Villnave of Gouverneur, Mrs. Rita Merchant of St. Johnsbury, VT; Mrs. Edna Degone of Tupper Lake; Mrs. Emmaline Schiavone of Norwood, and Mrs. Jeanette Bourdage of Cleveland, NY, and nine grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held 9 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Church with the Rev. Earl Nichols officiating. Cremation took place at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.
Arrangements were by Rennell Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.
