Shadow was a black cocker spaniel, our very first pet. The USMC brought us to N.C. and we bought Shadow "Lady of Sunset" from a family on Wrightsville Beach. We took Shadow everywhere in the car. She made many trips back and forth to NY where we were from. When we moved back to NY permantly, Shadow slipped out of her collar one day while out for her daily walk, and ran away on us. The ground was covered with lots of snow, and she disappeared. We searched for her to no avail. Called animal shelters and advertised in the newspaper. No one responded. Guess she found another family, and we hope she lived a long life. Shadow was 5 years old then.
