Dr. A. B Cary Madison State Journal September 19, 1862
Death of Dr. A. B. Cary – The Fond du Lac Commonwealth announced the death of Dr. A. B. Cary of that city. Dr. Cary was Assistant Surgeon of the 12 Regiment and was a brother of Dr. L. H. Cary, the Surgeon of the same Regiment. The Commonwealth speaks of him thus:
"During his brief residence here, he had won the esteem of all, and dies lamented as a rising young man of promise, a capable public officer, a genial and warm-hearted friend, and a patriotic physician, who has laid down his own life in ministering to sick and dying soldiers.
"He leaves a grief-stricken wife and two children to mourn his loss. Alas! The horrible eclipse that has been thrown across the sunshine of that happy home, May God temper the wind to the shorn lambs."
