McKinnon, Redmond SCHENECTADY Redmond McKinnon, 82, of Schenectady passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2012 with his family by his side. Born in Vivian, W.Va., on January 25, 1930, he was the beloved son of the late Charles and Anniebell Bailey McKinnon. He was raised and educated in West Virginia until moving to New Jersey at 18 years old. He moved to Albany and then to Schenectady where he made his home and has lived until present day. Redmond was a member of Wilburn Temple First C.O.G.I.C. Redmond dedicated himself to hard work and practiced this work ethic all of his life. As a seven-year-old boy, he hauled coal out of the mines in West Virginia. When he became a young man, he was a longshoreman at the Port of Albany and for a brief time he was employed by Montgomery Ward. He made a lifelong career with Altec Steel, formerly, Allegheny Ludlum Corp., as a steel worker. He retired in 1986. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Anna Pearl Jackson McKinnon and his brothers, Charles, Clarence and William McKinnon. He is survived by three children, Ronald (Penny) McKinnon, Marjorie McKinnon and Chauncy A. McKinnon, all of Schenectady; his sister, Vickie McKinnon of Newark, N.J.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13, 2012 at 1 p.m., at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St., Schenectady followed by interment in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
