Patricia Sue Jansen "Memaw", 76 of Memphis, TN, died peacefully in her sleep on February 10, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born March 30, 1935 in Caruthersville, MO, to James Harold Hamby and Alma Mertens Hamby.

She graduated from St Joseph's School of Nursing as a registered nurse and worked for the hospital.

She married Patrick Joseph Jansen of Pocahontas, AR, and together they raised eight children in Memphis, TN, putting them through St Paul Catholic School, Bishop Byrne High School and then through college.

She spent countless hours as a den mother in the Cub Scouts and attended numerous sporting events for her children and grandchildren. Her whole life was devoted to being a supportive wife, a caring mother and a loyal catholic.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Patrick Joseph Jansen of Memphis, TN; her children Gregory Allen Jansen and wife Cindy Dungy Jansen of Moscow, TN; Daniel Joseph Jansen and wife Vicki Doyle Jansen of Hernando, MS; Kevin Patrick Jansen and wife Sarah Momenian Jansen of Saudi Arabia; Melissa Ann Allen and husband Roy Allen of Bartlett, TN; Karen Sue Gardner and husband Kevin Gardner of Collierville, TN; Kenneth Harold Jansen and wife Julie Montgomery Jansen of Buford, GA; Patrick Andrew Jansen of Huntsville, AL; Amelia Harvey Jansen of Huntsville, AL; Thomas Harrison Jansen and wife Michelle Steffens Jansen of Durham, NC. In addition, she had 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving her: brother Frank J Hamby and his wife Gloria of Omaha, NE and their children Larry and Gary Hamby.

Preceding her in death are her parents and her brother James Harold Hamby Jr.

Visitation will be Monday February 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Germantown Parkway.

The funeral mass will also be at St. Francis of Assisi on Germantown Parkway Tuesday February 14 at 10 a.m. with the burial immediately following at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 3700 North Germantown Parkway Bartlett, TN.
