James was the son of George Washington Morrow and Ada (Rothwell) Morrow, he was born September 30, 1926 in Gillette, Wyoming.

James served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Following the war he attended college in Bozeman, Montana and then returned to Gillette and started ranching.

James was married to Naomi Alice George on 14 May 1950 in Gillette, Campbell County, Wyoming. They continued ranching for a while and then they bought the Wyoming Motel in Gillette, which they operated for 8 1/2 years. They sold the motel in Gillette and moved to Newport, Oregon where they owned and operated the Sands Motor Lodge for 14 years.

He was a life member and Paster Master of Newport Masonic Lodge #85 A.F. & A.M., O.E.S. Sunset Fuchsia Chapter #163, Newport, the Shriners. James also coached summer league baseball in Newport for many years.

In 1996 they moved to Roseburg where James joined Moose Lodge #1037 and the American Legion Post #16. He loved sports of all kinds. He had recently attended a softball tournament in Washington and was able to see his granddaughter from Alaska play and be the winning pitcher in the game.

His wife Naomi preceded him in death on October 24, 1999.

He is survived by his five children: Harold Morrow and wife Rose of Canon City, Colorado, Cheryl Schriver and husband Chuck of Toledo, Oregon, Robert Morrow of Roseburg, William Morrow and wife Peggy of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Janice Dudley of Soldotna, Alaska, fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, two sisters: Ada M. Collins of Buffalo, Wyoming and Jessie Lee Tays of Gillette, Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
