EDWARD J BERNOTAS SR

Edward J. Bernotas, 78, of Hilltown Township died Tuesday in Doylestown Hospital. He was the husband of Anna H. (Jurin) Bernotas. They were married 54 years last September.

He worked at Cassel's Greenhouse, Chalfont, until retiring in 1982. Before that he was a custodian and bus driver for Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown, a maintenance worker for the Lansdale Transportation Co., and a hosiery knitter at the former Chalfont Hosiery Mill and Sapphire Hosiery Mill, Quakertown.

Born in Huff, N.D., he was a son of the late Anthony J. and Cecilia (Ripple) Bernotas.

He was a member of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors: Wife; sons, David of Sanford, N.C., and Gregory of Spinnerstown; sister, Margaret, wife of George Miller of Ambler; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons, Edward and Fred.
