Mr. Jimmie Lee Burnett, age 83, of Mt. Airy, N.C, widower of Mrs. Rebecca Elizabeth Quesenberry passed away Tuesday June 18, 2013, at Joan & Howard Hospice Home, Dobson, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 17, 1930 in Hillsville, VA to the late Floyd W. & Amelia H. Burnett.

He worked for N. C. Granite Corp and then later Jeffrey Blackman Monuments as a professional stonecutter. Many of his stonecutting works can be found throughout N.C. He was especially proud of his work on the VFW Veterans Memorial in Hillsville, VA. Jim honorably served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He loved playing Bluegrass Music on his fiddle at local Fiddler Conventions in and around N.C. and VA. He also loved trout fishing when he got a chance.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Burnett of Murdock Center, Butner, N. C., a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Leslie Burnett of Lexington, S.C, acknowledged daughter and best friend, Donna Lawrence Shelton, three Grandchildren and spouse, Travis Burnett, Newly and Kandy Burnett, & Bryan Burnett; Seven Great-Grandchildren, Destiny Frye, Devin, Jenna, and Nick Burnett of Mount Airy, Nadia, Jimmy Cole, and Ava Burnett of Ararat VA., one sister Eva Marsh of Cana VA.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Mr. Donnie Bunn. Entombment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. Full military rites will be conducted at the entombment service by the Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019, Mt. Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
