Death of Sampson Erwin
Sampson Erwin, a former well known resident of Rensselaer, died about 9:30 o'clock Tuesday night, April 2nd, 1901, at the home of his son-in-law, Leon Shaffaer, at Wheatfield. He had been very seriously sick for several weeks, with lung fever, but had apparently, taken a decided change for the better; and at 6 o'clock the same evening, when visited by his physician, he seemed so much better that an early recovery was confidently expected. But at the above mentioned time an attack of heart failure carried him away, very suddenly. His age was about 73 years.
His funeral was held on Thursday and he was buried in Welsh cemetery, in Jordan tp., by the side of his wife whose death occurred last year.
