The many friends of Mr. T. J. Overstreet were surprised and shocked at the announcement of his death, which occurred at his home near Hanly, Wednesday, Sept. 26th, at 2 o'clock a.m. His death was caused from malarial fever and general prostration. Mr. Overstreet was born March 1st, 1830 and was married to Sarah J. Overstreet, Oct. 6th, 1853. Besides a wife, the following children survive the deceased; Annie, who married M.H. Cecil, Harrodsburg; Jennie, the wife of N.W. Sampson, Halls Gap, Lincoln County; Mattie, who married Rev. R.B. Baird, of the Kentucky Conference; Misses, Sudie, Nannie and Walter Overstreet. The last three reside at home. The Deceased had been a local preacher for about thirty years and remarked a few minutes before he died that he had trusted Jesus for forty years with unshaken faith. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Sawyer at the home place, yesterday, after which the interment took place in the family burying ground. obit from The Jessamine Journal issue of Sept. 28, 1894.
