Absalom Dykus Baker was the son of Thomas Lewis Baker and Mary Elizabeth Carpenter.

Paternal grandparents were Absalom Perry Baker and Mary A.L. Moon. Maternal grandparents were Thomas Carpenter and Phoebe White Tabor on the maternal side.

He and Eliza America Chandler married in 1894, and had three children. He was killed as a result of a shooting incident on 7 Nov 1936.
