Married Dr. John W. Smith, 26 Jul 1835, Wayne Co., IN.
Their youngest daughter, Emma Frances Smith married Houston Lafayette Poplin, 17 May 1876, Garnett, Anderson Co., KS.

From original (undated) newpsper clipping, Ventura CA:
"Death of Grandma Smith.
Mrs. Abigail Smith, mother of Mrs. Judge Poplin, died at her daughter's home on Tuesday night [NOTE: "night" written over with "morn" written over it.], January 2d. Abigail Misner was born in Butler County, Ohio, April 12th 1811. When yet a child the family moved to Indiana.
In 1835 she was united in marriage to John W. Smith, who died in 1872. Mrs. Smith the following year removed to Kansas, and in 1887 to California.
When 18 years of age she united with the Methodist church
and has since been a devoted Christian worker, much loved by all who knew her.
The funeral services were held at the home of Mr. Poplin
Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. A. Graves."
