She was born November 8, 1919, in Berlin, Somerset Co., the daughter of the late John S. and Lola M. (Walker) Brant.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She attended Elizabethtown College. She was a former member of the MD Federation of Art, having exhibited her oils and pastels in juried exhibitions throughout the region. She enjoyed volunteer work, especially with Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Butcher is survived by two sons, J. Donald Butcher and wife, Marla of York, and Michael A. Butcher of Dover; daughter, Judith B. Cochran and husband, James of Panama City Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Debbie Bieber and husband, Tim, Scott Butcher and wife, Debbie, Tom Butcher, and Dan Butcher and wife, Suzette; four great-grandchildren, Eric and Alison Bieber, Zoe Butcher, and Jonathan Butcher; one sister, Shirley Ferree; two brothers, John Brant, Jr. and wife, Ruth, and Wayne Brant and wife, Leah; plus numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Esther Hoover.
Burial will be private at Codorus Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
