Hannah Cooper was born to John Adam Cooper and Agnes King on April 1, 1830 in the Chester District of South Carolina. Her family is believed to have moved to Greene County, Ohio about 1831. Their church, the Reformed Presbyterian Church (Covenanters), didn't approve of slavery and this made them unpopular in South Carolina. She married John Henry Reid on Sept. 4, 1856 at Cedarville, Greene County, Ohio. They had three daughters, Mary Sabina (Reid) Blair, Nancy Ella (Reid) Harbison, and Martha (Mattie) Jeanette (Reid) Shepherd. She died March 31, 1900 at Cedarville, Greene County, Ohio. She was buried at Massie's Creek Cemetery near Cedarville, Ohio.
