In a Gilson family note, it states the Christian name William A. Gilson born September 23, 1845, son of Alexander and Frances (Brown) Gilson.

In the Baptismal Entries for the Bedford Presbyterian Church, William Alexander Gilson son of Alex and Frances Gilson is recorded as being baptized on September 23, 1845.

A record is recorded in the Bedford Courthouse, Bedford, PA in Orphan's Court for guardianship of William A. Gilson .

On May 1, 1914, page 1, a newspaper article from the Bedford Gazette, Bedford, PA was written about William A. Gilson had moved to out West settling in different states, and came home for a visit at his brother Walter Gilson.

On March 29, 1928, page 12, a newspaper article was published in the Marysville Advocate, Marysville, Kansas, on the death of William A. Gilson on March 17, 1928. The newspaper article mentions when he moved out West, what his occupation was during his life and at his death, and some of his relatives in Bedford, PA. Then where he would be laid to rest.
