Vonetta Searle, 90, passed away quietly January 28, 2012 while surrounded by her family in Vancouver, WA. She was born October 22, 1921 in Grand Junction, CO to Charles Adelbert and Maggie Monahan Schanno and was the oldest of four children.
With joy and celebration she married Woodey B. Searle on June 14, 1974.That marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple.They enjoyed almost 28 years of happiness during which time they traveled throughout the world and dedicated themselves to various philanthropic endeavors. Woodey and Vonetta were great supporters of education in the Uintah Basin and provided college scholarships each year to graduating seniors as well as providing property and other gifts to Utah State University. He precedes her in death.
Nothing brought Vonetta more joy than surprising people with unexpected gifts.
As the oldest child, Vonetta was always serious about life. She took her childhood and adult responsibilities seriously and carried them out faithfully. She loved her step children and grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephews dearly and always "spoiled" them when they came to visit.
In this life, those who loved Vonetta knew her as a peacemaker and bridge builder.
She hated conflict and was happiest when things were peaceful and she was surrounded by family and friends.
Growing flowers was one of the joys of her life and she always enjoyed fresh cut flowers in her home. As she leaves this life for the next, we wish her love, joy, peace and forever blooming flowers.
Vonetta is survived by her sisters, Marjorie L. Christensen, Idaho Falls, ID and Loraine S.Hofer, Vancouver Washington.
A brother, Robert Wade Schanno, preceded her in death. Other survivors include her step children as well as numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at White House Reception Center, 1500 S Hwy 40 on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2012 at 11 am. with a visitation 1 hour prior to services.
Service and burial will be under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary with burial at the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.
The family suggests donations to the Uintah Schools Foundation for Graduating Seniors at Uintah High School
