Ivy Bailes (Bud) Layton never married. When about 5 years ofage, he fell out of a high swing, hitting his head. This injury led to "Dizzy spells", diagnosed in later years as epilepsy. He spent most of his mature life in the State Hospital for Epileptics in Abilene, where he lived a fairly normal and happy life. He built up a cleaning and pressing business and supported himself amply. Long before country music became popular, he played such music on his violin and always delighted his nieces and nephews with his fiddle playing when he visited. From Layton-Hargis Decendents by Pauline Murrie, p 52.
