Maiden name: Stage
She married William Albert STONE and from that union had four children: Zacharias Taylor, Millard Fillmore, Ada Margaret and Edward Willard Stone. Zacharias later went by the name Zachary and Zach. She was widowed then married Thomas SAUNDERS (Sanders in marriage record), a village trustee of Perry County, Illinois. Thomas Saunders died about November 13, 1881, was buried somewhere in Steele's Mill now called Steeleville in Perry County IL and at some point she married John Stockbridge CROOKER who preceded her in death. They lived in Valley Ford according to probate records. The land was passed onto his wife after his death. Martha Crooker lived in Petaluma, California as a widow according to the 1900 and 1910 censuses. She is listed as a midwife in 1900. Her daughter Ada Margaret WELLS lived nearby with her family in Santa Rosa.
Funeral home records give her date of birth as May 4, 1827 and her age at death as 89 y 7 m 3 d which was likely supplied by her daughter Ada M. Wells or her son-in-law. Her death record did not include a date of birth, but stated she was 86 years old at her death which would be 1830 which conflicts with funeral records which are a more trusted source. Censuses from 1850 to 1910 give varying approximate birth years ranging from 1822, 1829, 1830, 1838 and 1839. 1900 census gives May 1837.
A marriage record has not been found yet to link her up to John Stockbridge Crooker as her third husband, but the probate records confirm that they indeed were married. Funeral home records say she is buried at Bloomfield Cemetery in a 'family plot'. Her husband is buried with a prominent headstone at the same cemetery. Her son Zachary's obituary listed his mother as Mrs. J.S. Crooker of Petaluma, CA in 1910. Sonoma County and Marin County don't have a marriage record for them.
Lafferty and Smith Funeral Home records say she is buried at Bloomfield Cemetery. Her death certificate says "place of burial or REMOVAL": Mendocino State Hospital, Talmage, Calif. She is not in the DAR Sonoma County cemetery transcriptions put together in the 1920's and later updated in 1976 by Sonoma County Genealogical Society for burials between 1846-1921.

Gravesite Details
Funeral records say she is buried in a 'family plot' here. I believe this means she is buried next to her husband John Stockbridge Crooker since I'm unaware of any other kin there. Bloomfield Cem. records do not exist. Only DAR & SCGC publication
