The Rev. W.C. Henn, pastor of the Luther M.E. church, was the paster at the funeral for Mrs. Minnie Moats there Thursday a 2 p.m. Mrs Gladys Romedahl Everett Cree sang "Sweet Bye and Bye," "In The Garden" amd "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."
Those serving as pall bears were: Messre W.J. Russell, William Walker, Clarence Brundage, Charles McCay, Dan Page and Harry Anderson. Internment was made in Rose Hill cemetery east of Luther.
Born In New York
Minnie I. Hitsman Moats, daughter of David and Sarah Coons Hitsman, was born June 12, 1865, in St. Lawrence county, New York State, and passed to her reward January 1, 1929, at the age 68 years, 6 months and 19 days. At the age of five years she came with her parents to Boone county, Iowa, and grewup on the farm 2 miles east of Luther.
She was married June 20, 1890 to Augustus Moats of Luther, Iowa. To this union were born four children: Guy Moats of Superior, Montana, Mrs Golda Brundage, Mrs, Gladys McVay, and Glenn D. Moats of Luther.
Was Left With Children
The early death of her husband in 1904, left her with all the care of the family. She shoudered the added responsibility courageously and gave twenty-five years more of unstinted devotion to her children.
Sheunited withe the Methodist church of Luther in 1906 and has remained faithful through the years. Her interest in the kingdom was expressed through the church work, and the work of the W.C.T.U. of which she ws a lifelong member.
Had Been Invalid
She suffered a fracture of tje hip in 1922, which had made her an invalid for more than 6 years. Her cross of pain has been very heavy at times. During the past several months her strengh has failed rapidly and her release came Tuesday afternoon at 2:30.
She leaves to morn the loss of their loved pme her four children, 8 grandchildren, one sister, Mrsi Martha Cahall of St. Paul, a large number of other relatives and a great host of friends.
