Priscilla Jewett Boynton was the seventh of nine children born to Capt. Joseph Jewett (1656-1694) and his wife Ruth Wood Jewett (1662-1734) of Rowley, Essex Co., MA. She was baptized at Rowley on February 1, 1691. On February 2, 1708/09 she married at Rowley Hilkiah Boynton (1687-1745), son of Capt. Joseph and Sarah Swan Boynton of Rowley. The couple had twelve children: Jane (b. 1709), Joanna (b. 1712), Priscilla (twin, b. 1714), Hilkiah (twin, b. 1714), Joseph (b. 1717), Sarah (b. 1718/19), Ruth (b. 1721), Jane (b. 1722/23), Hilkiah (twin, b. 1725), Mehitable (twin, b. 1725), Ruth (b. 1727), and Jewett (b. 1735). All but the last two were born in Rowley. Sometime in the mid-1720s the Boynton family moved west to Lunenburg in Worcester Co., MA, where Sarah and her husband spent their last years.
