Lester "Russ" Russell Curtis of Sisters died Oct. 15. He was 88.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at The Pines Club House in Sisters. At his request, his ashes will be scattered on Tam McArthur Rim.
Mr. Curtis was born April 11, 1917, in Azalea to Lester and Ella (Rust) Curtis. He attended high school in Triangle Lake and Siuslaw. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for seven years. He married Eula Spicer on Feb. 10, 1943, in Los Angeles.
Mr. Curtis worked for the U.S. Geological Survey for 27 years, surveying in seven western states, the Grand Canyon and Alaska. He retired to Sisters in 1973. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rafting and being with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patricia Swarens and Nancy, both of Sisters, and Susan Aylor of Redmond; and a brother, Willard of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
