Irene L. Robertson, 91, of Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg, having been a patient there one year, died May 14, 2011 .

Born at Loartown on Aug. 2, 1919, she a daughter of the late Jacob Loar and Edith (Fatkin) Loar. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Robertson, on April 13, 1992; two sons, Charles and John; one brother, Jacob Loar and two sisters, Ruth Hester and Dorothy Davis.

Irene retired from the coning department at the Celanese Fiber Corporation. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Vale Summit where she was the former treasurer. She also belonged to the Women's Society of the Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Maxine Brodie and husband Creade Sr., of Frostburg, and Ruth Ann Wilson, of Midland. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Bishop Shon P. Brodie and wife Theresa, Creade Brodie Jr. (Allegany County Commissioner) and wife Trina, Tonna Ferree and husband John, Krista Phillips and husband Jeff, Tracy Wilson, Teri McAlpine and husband Brian, David Robertson and wife Chris, Lori Broadbeck and husband Jeff, and Renee Hayes and husband Randy; and twenty great-grandchildren.

Irene donated her body to the Anatomical Board of Maryland.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the Vale Summit United Methodist Church, with the Rev. George Harpold and Irene's grandson, Bishop Shon P. Brodie (retired Sgt.Maj USMC) officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to service.

Inurnment will be in Vale Summit United Methodist Church Cemetery.
