Louise Rushing, 88, of Cooter, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 in Steele.
Born Jan. 12, 1923 in Reagan, Tenn., she is the daughter of the late Shanon Hart and Mattie Tomblin Hart.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Naldine King and Graple Boone; one brother, Cecil Hart; one son, Gene Edward Rushing; two half-sisters: Elsie Medlin and Ethel Tomblin; and one half-brother, Virgil Ross.
Louise was united in marriage to James Rushing on Oct. 18, 1939. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Rushing leaves three sons: James Rushing and Jerry Rushing, both of Cooter and Harold Rushing of Kennett; Four daughters: Ann Salary of Auburndale, Fla., Wanda Greenlee of Rapid City, S. Dak., Belinda Armstrong of Pocahontas, Ark., and Pat Copley of Blytheville, Ark.; Long time companion, Texas Forrester; and Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rushing were held at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glyn Davis officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were Hershel Copeland, Scotty McDaniel, Gary Stubblefield, Tony Kennedy, Brian Kennedy and Lee Brackin.
