Suffered "frosted feet' because of wearing "bad shoes" while on duty at Belle Plain, Virginia, in November 1862. Honorably discharged with his company May 21, 1863.
He married Harriet A. Bloomer February 22, 1867, in West Chester and fathered Caroline (b. 05/10/69, d. 02/10/70). According to his obituary, he had no other surviving children. He died of "fibroid phthisis."
