She was born on July 28, 1920, in Stratford, Iowa, the daughter of Erick and Hulda (Hanson) Erickson. On September 24, 1938, she married Howard Hall at her parent's home in rural Dayton, Iowa.
Darlene was a 1928 graduate of Stratford High School. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the farm operation for 45 years while living on their farm northwest of Stratford. After retiring in 1985, the couple moved to Stratford to make their home. Darlene enjoyed crocheting, gardening and being outdoors fishing and mushroom hunting.
She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Avon Chapter in Stratford and a lifetime member of the Methodist Church in Stratford.
Her parents, husband Howard in November of 1993, one daughter Carolyn Von Ehwegen in July of this year and two sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mike McGuire of Webster City, Iowa, Ann and Don Stewart of Webster City, Iowa, Tonya and Phil Larson of Webster City, Iowa, Mari and Lacy Buie of Stratford, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one sister, Myrna Harrison of Boone, Iowa; and a son-in-law Jerry Von Ehwegen of Sioux City, Iowa.
Services will be held on Wednesday morning, October 24th at 10 a.m. at the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford, Iowa, with Pastor Joe Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, north of Stratford, Iowa.
Friends may call Wednesday morning at the Stratford Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Stratford, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
