Charles was the son of Joseph Ephriam Conner and Tacy Ann Charity Fitzgerald

Charles married Eva Mae Sewell and had the following children: Violet Irene, Delvin Morris, Aletha Magdalena and Betty Mae

Charles Emmitt Conner was born September 23, 1897, to Rev. Joseph E. and Tacy Ann Fitzgerald Conner near the Free Silver District northeast of Burwell, Nebraska and died January 16, 1989, at the Burwell Nursing Home, Burwell, Nebraska at the age of 91.
He was baptized as a young man, and joined the Cedar Methodist church in 1917. On April 10, 1921, he married Eva Mae Sewell. Charles was a farmer and rancher in the Free Silver District for 28 years. He lived in Garfield county until the spring of 1945 when they moved to a farm in Loup county. While farming, he was active in community work, spending several years on the school board and on the election board of the Free Silver communnity. In 1949, he moved to Burwell and worked for the auctions yards and feed stores. He also worked at Spelts Lumber Yard and did carpentry work, retiring at the age of 79. He has been a resident of the Burwell Nursing home sice Feb 1968.
Survivors include three children, Delvin of Vale, Oregon, Aletha Peterson of Burwell, and Betty Fredrick of Taylor, one brother, Otis Conner of Burwell, seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, mumerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, one sister, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 19, 1989 at the United Methodist church in Burwell with the Rev. Nancy Flader officiating. Music was provided by Jean Bolli and Marty Robbins. Pallbeareres included Randy Johnson, Bo Conner, Kenneth Heine, Charles Nelson, Bill Shottenkirk and Tim Rowse. Burial was in the Cottonwood cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Fund. Fleming Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.
