Johnathan W. Conner
Funeral Services for Johnathan W. Conner, 95, were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Oct 5, at the Fleming Funeral home with the reverend S.A. Erushwitz officiating.
Mrs. Dale Herrod and Mrs. Keith Herrod, accompianed by Mrs. Iva Hilmlemp organist, sang "The old rugged cross" and "The beautiful garden of prayer" Pallbearers were Garland Davenport, Ernest Sewell, Mael Edghill, Everett Johns, Vern Detmer, and Richard Banks.
Internment was in Cottonwood cemetery. The Fleming funeral home was in charge of arrangments.
Johnathan Wilford Conner, son of Richard Alexander Conner and Nancy Howell Conner was born in Monroe county, Jan. 28, 1878 and departed this life Oct. 2, 1973, at the age of 95 years, 8 months and 2 days.
His childhood was spent in Ohio. His mother passed away when he was 8 years old and the father and family made their home with his parents and in 1888, they came to Nebraska, arriving April 10. Johanthan homesteaded in Garfield county and claimed it as his home the rest of his life. Her farmed and worked in construction and operated the Burwell hatchery for three years and the Army store for a time. He never married. He made his home with his two aged aunts after his father's death.
He lived at the Plaza for a time, then following an illness, he entered the nursing home where he died.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his brother, Thomas E. Conner and wife of Council, Idaho; three nephews and five nieces and their families; and many other relatives and friends.
