Cora Lou Bishop, 87, of Marietta, died at her home Saturday, January 3, 2004 of heart failure.

Born in Canton, GA, Mrs. Bishop attended Reinhardt College, Oglethorpe University; and received her Master's Degree from West Georgia College. She taught school in Marietta for 27 years, the last 21 at Elizabeth Elementary. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Marietta for over 50 years; being active with the youth in Sunday School, Bible School and Children's Church. She also assisted with the Boy Scouts.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by her husband of 61 years J. LeRol Bishop; sons Stanley (Peggy) Bishop and Sam (Candie) Bishop both of Marietta, and Tom (Gloria) Bishop of Albany; daughter Glenda (Norris) Wood of Jasper; grandchildren Chad (Evelyn) Cox, Debbie (Barry) Lancaster, Becky (Alan) Poole, Dan (Amy) Bishop, Jennifer Bishop, Annie Gentles, Missy Gentles and Vickie Dailey; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Juanita Wheeler of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The First United Methodist Church, 56 Whitlock Ave., SW, Marietta, GA 30064 or to the Bratton Scholarship Fund, c/o Reinhardt College, 7300 Reinhardt College Circle, Waleska, GA 30183-2981
