Mrs. Denman, 68, Dies of Illness --

Mrs. Lela Cox Denman of Winchester died Monday at the Franklin County Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was 68.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Watson-Gamble Funeral Home in Winchester with the Rev. John Stammer Smith, the Rev. Ky Curry, and Dr. J. Fred Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Franklin Memorial Gardens.

Born May 1, 1904, Mrs. Denman was the daughter of Sam Cox of Marietta, Georgia, who survives, and the late Isa Cline Cox. She was a native of Canton, Georgia.

Mrs. Denman was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. E. H. Denman, Sr., of Winchester; five daughters, Mrs. Scott Leonard, Jr., Winchester, Mrs. Charles Hankins, Greeneville, Tennessee, Mrs. Ed Dusek, Chicago, Mrs. Chris Weatherspoon, Amherst, Massachusetts, and Mrs. Joe Waggoner, Atlanta; four sons, the Rev. E. H. Denman, Jr., Nashville, David Denman, Newbern, Tennessee, Lee C. Denman, Winchester, and James R. Denman, St. Louis, Missouri; three brothers, James Cox, Atlanta, and Ted Cox and Glenn Cox, both of Canton, Georgia; five sisters, Mrs. D. B. Alderman, Reedsville, North Carolina, Mrs. LeRal Bishop and Miss Stella Cox, both of Marietta, Georgia, Mrs. Clinton Wheeler, Canton, Georgia, and Mrs. Raymond Horton, Richmond, Virginia; and 19 grandchildren.
