He was born Wednesday, February 4, 1925, in Aspers, the son of the late Paul and Beatrice (Pittenturf) Asper.
Richard graduated from Biglerville High School in 1943.
He was self-employed as a carpenter. He also owned and operated his own farm.
Richard served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
His wife Audrey L. (Spangler) Asper died in 2000 and he is survived by three daughters, LuAnn Miller of Enola, Vicki K. Asper of Brookhaven and Dawn Asper of Gardners; two sons, Keith W. Asper and Todd L. Asper, both of Gardners; one sister, Janet Guise of York Springs; two brothers, Wayne Asper of Biglerville and Jack Asper of Gardners.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Asper.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. January 25, 2012, at Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville, with Rev. Matt Jury officiating. Interment will be in Biglerville Cemetery.
