Christopher Chavez, 20, born Aug. 4, 1972, in Silver City, died in an automobile accident April 11 in Albuquerque. He was an Albuquerque resident. His father, Albert J. Chaves, preceded him in death in 1980. Survivors include his mother, Jolane Culhane, a brother, Aaron Chavez, and a sister, Julie Chavez, all of Albuquerque; paternal grandparents, Elie and Natalia Chavez of Silver City; maternal grandparents, John C. Culhane of Rancho Mirage, Calif., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The Rev. Alfred A. Lopez will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center on the University of New Mexico campus in Albuquerque. Burial will take place Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Memory Lane Cemetery in Silver City. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Martin's Hospitality Center for the Homeless, P.O. Box 25265, Albuquerque, N.M. 87125. French Mortuary of Albuquerque is in charge of arrangements.
