Suggested edit: Shelvie Jean Moore, 85 of Blackshear died Friday evening (August 5, 2022) at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Moore was born in Waycross to the late Talmadge Wildes and Mellie Teston Wildes and made Waycross her home for most of her life until her move to Pierce County in 1988. She retired from Ware County School System in 1998 after serving as a nutritionist for many years. Along with her husband she owned and operated Ready Go Barbecue on Lesher St. for many years. She was a long-time member of Ben James Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Coleman Moore.

Mrs. Moore is survived by four daughters, Deborah Moore of Blackshear, Sherrie Mullis of Waycross, Anita Jones (Reggie) of Texas, Ali Hiu of Dixie Union; six grandchildren, Daniel Moore (Heather) of South Carolina, Dana Manders (Michael) of Waycross, Donna Cason (Eddie) of Waycross, Sarah Newland (Michael) of Blackshear, Nikki Goniotakis (David) of Jacksonville, Stuart Weeks of Texas; 14 great grandchildren, Jordan Cason (Erin), Taylor Chapman (Tyler), Alyssa Rice (Jake), Hannah Spradley (Dillian), Haley Gillis (Aaron), Danyon Moore (Carly), Spencer Manders, John Paul Manders, Zane Moore, Grace Moore, Selah Moore, Emma Smith, Landrey Smith, Esther Goniotakis, Mae Elynn Goniotakis; 12 great-grandchildren, Avery Spradley, Asher Spradley, Amelia Spradley, Xander Cason, Xoe Cason, Owen Chapman, Oakley Chapman, Delilah Gillis, Laney Gillis, Avrum Moore, Braydon Jewell, Riley Manders; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday (August 9, 2022) at 2:00pm at Ben James Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Ben James Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 1:00pm at the church.
