On November 26, 1893 he married Letha Viola Simmons to which was born one daughter, Mary Odessie affectionately known as Dessie. Letha Viola died in 1905. Shortly after her death Jack married Emma Alzora Karr who had remained single staying at home caring for her ailing father until marrying Jack at age 38. Emma had no children and reared "Dessie" as her own with Jack. Dessie died in 1925 from influenza and Jack & Emma had missed having a child in the home. In August 1926 a nephew of Emma's (Althur R. Karr)'s wife Cora Mae McPheeters died leaving Althur to raise 4 young children on his own. Jack and Emma took in one of the children (Gladys Mae Karr) who at the time was just 5 years old. Jack & Emma raised Gladys for many years remaining close to her father & siblings.Emma passed away in 1942 and on March 31, 1943 Jack married a third time to Minerva Medcalf who was widowed with 10 children - 6 girls and 4 boys. Minerva's children loved Jack like a father. Minerva died in March 1955 and Jack a little over a year later on August 22, 1956.--Charlotte Hamilton
