Funeral of Miss Lucy Lovejoy Held Saturday from Residence of Mr. and Mrs. E.P. Lovejoy
Lucy Lovejoy, daughter of the late Owen G. and Lucy Thompson Lovejoy, passed away at New London, Conn., July 5, after an illness of ten days from typhoid fever. Princeton had always been her home. After attending the public and high school here she graduated from St. Mary's school at Knoxville, Ill. The influences of this school were especially important in the formation of her character, and here were formed some of the pleasantest friendships of her life. Later she studied in Chicago. The past year she spent in very successful art study at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. From there she went to New London to spend a part of her summer vacation, where she was stricken with the dread disease, --- where notwithstanding the care and anxiety of relatives, skilled physicians and nurses her spirit took its flight. The last services were held on Saturday afternoon, July 8, at her home in Princeton, Ill. They were conducted by the rector of St. Jude's Church of Tiskilwa. A quartette sang appropriate and beautiful hymns. The wealth of flowers with which she was surrounded showed the devotion of friends from far and near.
