Crossville Chronicle May 30, 1940

Walter Mitchell, age 59 next August 29th, died in a Philadelphia hospital Tuesday morning, May 28 of a brain tumor.
The deceased leaves a wife and 2 daughters, Misses Mildred and Elizabeth Mitchell, Crossville; 2 brothers, Dr E W Mitchell and Judge J E Mitchell, Crossville; 1 sister, Mrs Hettie Speck, Livingston.
The deceased had followed farming all his life, living on the Mitchell home place near Livingston.
The body, accompanied by Mrs Mitchell and her daughters, will arrive in Knoxville today about 1:30 p.m. Overnight the body lay at the home of his brother, former Congressman J R Mitchell.
Services were held at 2 p.m. at the Mitchell home in Livingston with burial in the family plot at Good Hope cemetery nearby.
Mrs Mitchell will come here to make her home (Crossville), living with her daughter, Miss Elizabeth, who is employed at the First National Bank, while Miss Mildred will no doubt return to her work with a wholesale grocery in Nashville.
