Being left a widow before her children were grown and living on a farm, her tremendous energy carried her through many trying times in her struggle to rear and educate her family of 4 children, 3 sons and 1 daughter, all of whom are a crown of glory and credit to a life well and helpfully spent in the service of her family.
Funeral services were held at the home here Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Rev A H Edens in charge.
Rev Edens, holding in his hands the Mitchell family bible, spoke with much feeling, basing his remarks on the substance contained in the clippings which were found in this finger marked, worn and treasured bible.
Mrs Mitchell is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs Hettie Speck, Livingston; 3 sons, J Ridley and Elmo W, whose homes are here, and Walter , residing at Livingston. There are 3 granddaughters, Misses Mildred and Elizabeth Mitchell and Mrs Robert Hankins, Livingston; 1 grandson, Bland Speck, Rockwood; 2 great-grandchildren.
The deceased was born June 18, 1851 near Livingston where she spent her girlhood and early married life. She was married October 2, 1873 to L W Mitchell, who died Dec 18, 1890 at the age of 41 years.
29 years ago in 1905, Mrs Mitchell moved here to make a home for her 2 sons, E W and J Ridley.
Interment took place at Good Hope cemetery near Livingston by the side of her husband's remains and very close to their former home.
