{{Death of Mr. John White. Mr. John White died last Thursday at his home in Abbeville after having attained his three-score years and ten.
Mr. White was one of the oldest citizens of the town, and had been a resident of the place for half a century. For many years before the war he was the leading merchant of the place and was favorably known in every section of the county. His excellent business tact, his rare judgement and his well known intergrity brought him the finest success in a business with so many dangers. He was a man of pronounced character: "A plain, blunt man, who loved his friends," and was true to them in every sense of the word. He was, in word and deed, an honest man. - "the noblest work of god." He exemplified in his daily walk the truest manhood and in his death, has entered that haven where the weary are at rest.
The funeral services were held in tha Presbyterian Church on Friday morning by the Rev. J.I. Martin. The building was well filled with citizens, many of whom bore evidence of feelings of genuine sorrow at the loss of so good a citizen. At the conclusion of the religious services his remains were taken to Upper Long Cane Cemetery.}}
