Heindrich (Henry) Adolph Schwartz was born on October 20, 1871 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the younget of seven children of Wilhelm Samuel Schwartz and Wilhemina Tillman Schwartz.
He married Rosa Emma Wegenast on December 18, 1895 in Stevensport, Kentucky. They had seven children, two of whom died in infancy. His work as a carpenter took the family to many states before they settled in Flint, Michigan where he died on December 29, 1938. He was survived by his wife, Rosa, daughter Naomi Esle Schwartz Vreeland, and four sons, Irvin Andrew Schwartz, John Earl Swartz (nee Schwartz), Alfred Mark Schwartz and Walter Mearl Schwartz.
