He was born Jan. 28, 1929 in Cumberland County, the son of Arthur and Lucy Carter Pelfrey.
Mr. Pelfrey was retired from the military, serving in the Army Special Forces. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Pelfrey of Crossville; sons, Gerald Marvin Pelfrey of Lafayette, LA, Michael Dewayne Pelfrey of Clarksville, TN, and Timothy J. Pelfrey of Crossville; mother, Lucy Pelfrey of Crossville; nine grandchildren; brothers, Everett Pelfrey of Ozone, Esker Pelfrey of Yuma, AZ, Lester Pelfrey of Crossville, and Dennis Pelfrey of Crab Orchard; sisters, Wilma Brown and Selma Davis, both of Crossville; and several nieces and nephews.
Dr. James H. Beasley Jr. officiated, with special music by Ann Looney and Jim Everitt.
The Presentation of the Flag and 21-gun salute at the cemetery were done by the Honor Guard of B Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces from Fort Campbell, Clarksville, TN. The Honor Guard also served as pallbearers.
Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
