Mr. Pelfrey was born March 6, 1924, in Crossville, the son of Arthur Clarence Pelfrey and Lucy Ann (Carter) Pelfrey.
He was a retired farm machinery mechanic and a farmer. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his daughters, Sylvia Lewis and Shanda Campbell of Crossville; son, Tommy Pelfrey of Crossville; grandchildren, Teeter Pelfrey, G.G. Hood, Kim Tabor, Jonathan Campbell, Justin Campbell, Jeremy Campbell and Jeana Campbell; great-grandchildren, Colton Hood, Harley Hood and Ty Tabor; special lady friend, Jean Owen; sisters, Selma Davis and Wilma Brown of Crossville; brothers, Everett Pelfrey of Ozone and Dennis Pelfrey of Crab Orchard; and foster son, Randy Dinkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kate (Johnson) Pelfrey; son, Lester Silven Pelfrey Jr.; grandson, Coy Allen Lewis; and brothers, Esker Pelfrey and M.C. Pelfrey.
Pallbearers were Teeter Pelfrey, Kim Tabor, G.G. Hood, Jonathan Campbell, Justin Campbell, Randy Dinkens, Randy Johnson and Jeremy Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Mr. Pelfrey's memory to Cumberland Rescue Squad.
