Grandma Vedders passes away at the Wm. Vedders home last Friday morning. Death was due to old age and the grip. She left several children and many grandchildren to mourn her loss. The funeral was held at the Christian church Tuesday at 2p.m., and interment was in the Pease cemetery. The Vedders families have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

*In 1878 the Hendrik Vedders family moved from Michigan to Iowa and from there on to New Holland, S. Dakota hoping to find a drier climate for the sake of Hendrik Vedders who had very poor lungs. Here the Hendrik Vedders family made there home a mile east of New Holland, It was at New Holland that the Likkels and the Vedders families became good friends which resulted in the marriage of Gerrit Likkel to Dena Vedders on Aug.31, 1885.
*Alice moved to Minnesota with her two childen Fred and William, and her brother in-law Hermanus Vedders in 1895 after they heard of better land in Minnesota.
