August E. Ackman, 65 years old, 524 North Fountain, died at 6:10 Sunday morning in a hospital here. He was born Jan. 12, 1905, at Neelys Landing.

Mr. Ackman attend High Hill School at Neelys Landing. On Nov. 24, 1927 he married the former Miss Louise Hesse. She survives.

He was employed by the rock quarry in Neelys Landing moving to this city 20 years ago. Mr. Ackman was employed by the Marquette Cement Manufacturing Co. here several years, and was employed by the Missouri Utilities Co. here 25 years.

He was a member of the Red Star Baptist Church and was also a Mason.

Survivors include two sons, Wayland Ackman, Sikeston, and Gary Ackman, at home; six daughters, Mrs. Melvin McMillan, Perryville; Mrs. Chester Walker and Miss Wanda Ackman, both of St. Louis, Mrs. Robert Shepard and Mrs. Norman Chapman, both of Cape Girardeau, and Mrs. Thomas Elliot, Rocky Mountain, N.C.; five brothers, Barrett and James Ackman, both of Fruitland, Robert Ackman, Jackson, Clifford Ackman, Carlsbad, N.M., and Hubert Ackman, Crystal City; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. A brother and sister preceded Mr. Ackman in death.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon at Brinkopf-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl W. Tharp, pastor of the Red Star Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery near Pocahontas.

Masonic services will be held tonight at 7:30 at the funeral home.
